With records going back to the early 1800’s there is good documentation of a natural cave under Lockport NY. On April 19th at the Town of Lockport Town hall(6:30) I will be presenting my research on the famous cave sponsored by the Town of Lockport Historical Society.
I’m a local caver interested in your research on the natural cave under Lockport. I have a collection of notes and correspondence from a young caver that tried (unsuccessfully) to track it down a few decades ago.
Just checking to confirm that your talk is in 2024 and not in the past. I’d love to learn more and perhaps gather enough information to open the cave. It wouldn’t be my first time confirming lore of caves under a city.
Regards,
Ben
Ben: The talk is April 4th, 2024 at 2pm at the Historical Society on Niagara Street Lockport NY 14094 For more information do a search for Lockport Cave, Boles-I have had a few article in the paper. Jim Boles
Dave: What would you like to know about the cave? Jim Boles
I’m a newish resident of Lockport and this is something that intrigues me to no end. Is there anywhere to find more info about the cave? Not the right time of year to go exploring so just figured I’d see if anyone was still around on this site.
Mike: I am still here, Jim Boles. Try a search in google: Cave, Lockport NY, Boles-you may see some of my articles. Also the Library, in the history section has a folder on the cave, you will find one at the Historian’s office and the Niagara County History Center–both on Niagara Street, Lockport. Mean while ask me any question you may have-Jim Boles use this site or my email [email protected]
